Lassie, the popular series on television has made the Collie a recognizable breed to many. The Collie is noted for it’s intelligence and deep affection for the family.
Appearance – The Collie descended from dogs used for herding and this trait is still strong in them. Their guarding skills make them excellent family dogs. Some dogs of this breed can be anxious due to its ancestry, however, most are usually hardworking and smart. The Collie is a member of the AKC Herding Group. Weighing 55 to 80 pounds, these dogs can stand 22 to 26 inches tall.
The Collie is an energetic breed and is known for its perseverance. The Collie has beautifully shaped almond eyes and they reflect their perceptiveness. The eyes can be brown or blue. The Collie can either have a smooth coat or a rough coat, and the rough Collies have a fuller coat. They come in sable and white, tricolor and blue merle markings.
Characteristics – The Collie is not suitable for apartment living as they are more comfortable in the great outdoors. A family that is outgoing and energetic, and in the possession of a relatively big back yard would be the ideal situation for a Collie. The breed is sociable and extroverted but still make excellent watchdogs and protectors. They will sound an alert if there are strange humans or creatures. The do bite gently or nip at heels of the young kids to prevent the children from straying in the wrong direction.
Puppies of this breed are extremely smart and can prove to be a handful as they can be stubborn and get into trouble. Puppy obedience classes work well for them and they learn to socialize at an early age. They need strong discipline up front about what is and is not allowed in your household.
Health Problems and Grooming Issues – There are few health problems with the Collie. They can suffer from eye problems or PRA. More likely is the possibility of taking your puppy or dog to the vet for jumping from a moving vehicle or exploring his surroundings than for a health problem.
They like to eat, so ensure that the dog does not put on too much weight or there could be medical issues because of obesity. They enjoy three small meals a day.
Although it has long hair, it does not need as much grooming as one might think. Nevertheless, the dog’s coat should be brushed consistently to avoid tangles. The Collie is alert and perceptive, ideal for protecting your household and can bring you much joy for years to come.
Do cell phones cause health problems in kids?
My parents don't want me to get one because they say studies show that under 20 yr olds are more prone- I am 12.

The health problems are many, because these children are also in contact with poisonous spiders such as the pink toed Tarantula and the black widow.there are also poisonous reptiles or deadly reptiles such as the salt water crocodile, the poison dart frog, anaconda, cobras. the diseases are ammonia, starvation, abuse, etc. Also they can come in contact with Spider monkeys,Chimpanzees,Gorillas,or Baboons they will get eaten or attacked or killed. On animal planet there was a girl with Down Symdrone that was bitten very badly by a spider monkey that escaped from it's cage at a zoo in Guatemala, and Gorillas have been know to kill and mate with humans same with Chimpanzees.
I can't say that you "will for sure" be able to have them attend all General Education classes but it is a good possibility. Of course, the decision comes from the IEP committee of which you are an important member. Advocate for your girls and remember you don't have to agree with all the recommendations made by other IEP committee members. I have plenty of students who have medical issues and are able to stay in all General Ed classes with some Special Ed support. That support may be in the form of classroom accommodations, school health services, or Special Ed staff working with General Ed teachers.
"Advanced" maternal age is defined as any expectant mother who will have made her 35th birthday by the time she delivers. This term is a throw-back to the times when women married in their teens and began giving birth at a much younger age.
In modern times, with women playing important roles in the marketplace alongside men and putting off their families for business or personal reasons, the magic number of 35 still stands as a turning point in prenatal surveillance, because this begins a high-risk group with their own set of risk factors besides all of the other risks of pregnancy and delivery.
I'm 40 and pregnant with baby number 4. The odds of me having a Down's syndrome child is 1 in 100. http://babymed.com/pregnancy%2Dtools/down%2Dsyndrome/
Be sure you begin to take prenatal vitamins months before you conceive. That will lower your chance of birth defects.
My 3 boys are very healthy and I had them at 34, 36, and 38
Best of luck to you.
i had a terrible time giving birth to my son 17 years ago my heart gave up twice , it had to be kickstarted and although at first i declared myself of having no more never ever . How true that would be because when our son was 5 we craved another but hospital advised us if i did give birth again my son would not have a mum as it would be too much on my heart so i gave up the idea of having any more and concentrated on our son instead .. he has grown up very loved , spoilt , (to a degree) and wants for nothing ..
It has to start in the home. If you show a good example by living and explaning this to your child(ren), then you have done all you can. Unfortunately some people don't care, and you can't change them. Here in California, I think the schools have been bringing environmental issues up, such a recycling, and conservation. They teach the young ones early, so that way they can bring these lessons home. Unfortunatly, even though they and we know better, we don't always practice it with everything we do. The best way we can start is by recycling, and here in California, we have a lot of recycling bins everywhere we go.
Drug companies have the largest lobbying firms in the country. They lobby congress and convince everyone to support vaccines and drugs that are clearly not safe. Flu vaccines are a big business– the government pays for most of them, they are given to people every single year. Other vaccines are given to people only once in a lifetime, or very rarely. Flu vaccinations are lucrative– especially this year, since they're convincing most people to get more than one vaccine.
First off the last post is AN IDIOT because there is no such word as WORSER!
Secondly, The government makes money from cigarettes. They are highly taxed. Which is why they are not illegal. Cigarettes and alcohol are much worse for you than any illegal drug. But the government makes money from them. Alcohol is mood altering and it is still legal, so that throws that argument out the window.
Weight Watchers worked great for me and I didn't have time to work out much, either. I used work time to help work out…stairs when I could, parked further away, did squats at my desk and leg lifts…but other than that I didn't do much and lost a bunch…good luck!
Yes! Check with your doctor about further testing… diabetes?
that fine if you don,t over dose them
Im sure youre grandparents nad parents didnt have loads of 12 packs in the house, computers, tv's and video games though now did they? Those were treats. Get a coke every once in a while. Go out to eat every once in a while. They were always on their feet playing with friends and working hard. Todays kids sit on the sofa drinking a 12 pack of coke while eating cheeseburgers. that should explain it.
I feel exactly the way you do. I don't understand why there are so many programs out there for kids, but little to nothing for adults.
I'm still trying to pay off my hospital bills from last year and I was only hospitalized twice.
I'm 25 now and I'd hate to see how much I'm going to have to start paying once I'm older and have more issues.
ok you shold get a border collie there smart and protect your kids they do shed and they are about mid calf get one and they will protect your kids a poodle does not shed
I was 33 and had a preemie baby. I was on bedrest from 17 weeks until the end and sicker than a dog. My FM went into remission which was nice. I had lots of complications and in and out of the hospital and I am a pretty healthy person I think. You just never know what will happen when you get pregnant. I have heard of others with health issues do just fine and really healthy Moms doing everything to make themselves healthy having complications. It is a crap shoot.
Yes, there are health risks associated with the age of the father, and each added decade for the father's age, the more the risks. I have included several links to this information.
Just remember that birth defects can even occur in healthy young people and many older men father healthy children. You can't worry too much about this sort of thing sometimes, because if you do, you can't live and enjoy your life.
Also, you wouldn't know right away if the baby had schizophrenia, because these symptoms do not appear in very young children. It would occur in teen years or early adulthood, but could still be linked to an older father.
There have been some medical studies linking the older age of a father to such health risks in their children as autism and a higher risk of schizophrenia, dwarfism, bone disorders and also spontaneous abortion.
"A new study from Spain, which appears in the European Journal of Human Genetics, found that with every decade that passes, a man's risk of having sperm with chromosomal abnormalities increases 17 percent….He suggests men over 55 who want to father a child should consider having their sperm analysed for chromosomal abnormalities, but acknowledges that while the test is simple to perform, it's expensive."

"Geneticists have been aware for decades that the risk of certain rare birth defects increases with the father’s age. One of the most studied of these conditions is a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia, but the list also includes neurofibromatosis, the connective-tissues disorder Marfan syndrome, skull and facial abnormalities like Apert syndrome, and many other diseases and abnormalities."

i don't know where u are but near me we have a place to go an help autistic kids
Good question.
I was wondering this myself when we learned in sociology that poor people have more kids than middle class and rich people which is weird because the poor people can only really afford themselves if even that. Then how can they afford a kid?
It's not my place to tell someone they can't have children.
I also want to make a point that our population incraese is not because of the United States and Western Europe. 96 percent of the population increase is from Africa and other poor low income nations because they can't control their birth rate. And the sucky thing too is taht they can't even feed these people. More poor people then in the world… then.
Some people spurt out babies because they like children and are ready to face the difficulties of our world. Some people just like to have sex all the time.
I'm sure some care, to answer your question, and on the other side of the spectrum, some do not care.
I would like to have a child someday. And I want to point out one last time first world countries have a zero population growth. I just learned about that in class a week ago. It's all the poor countries. However, when I am raedy to have a child, I will be aware of all the obstacles.
We are all entitled to our own opinions.
Ha no, they either just don't want you to have one, don't want the extra costs, or believe the article. People seem to think everything can hurt you now days. Cell phones are harmless, unless your using it while your driving, happen to fall in a man hole, or get hit by a car or something assonine like that because your not paying attention. Cells are pretty nice to have, and it helps you keep in touch with your parents too.
