Physical health problems like fever are easily recognizable. But when it comes to mental health problems, parents usually could not easily identify the problem but they can learn to recognize the symptoms. Thus, parents need to pay more attention if their children are showing signs of excessive anger, fear, sadness or anxiety.
A common mental health problem that children can experience is depression. It is a serious medical illness that involves the brain. It is not just a feeling of being sad. But people who have depression will have it all their lives. It is persistent and it can interfere with everyday life. So how can parents know if their child has depression? Signs of depression are sadness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities the child used to enjoy, change in weight, difficulty sleeping or oversleeping, energy loss, feelings of worthlessness, and worst, thoughts of death or suicide.
Parents with depression should also be more observant of their children’s feelings. Because depression can run in the family and this can usually start between the ages of 15 and 30. This is also more common in women.
Another mental health problem is fear and anxiety. Children may feel anxious before a test or to walk down a dark street. But this is a useful form of anxiety. This can make your children become more alert or careful. This also does not last long and will often end as soon as they are out of the situation that causes anxiety. But there are also anxieties that do not go away and gets worse over time. Children with anxiety have chest pains or nightmares. They may even be afraid to leave home. There are different types of anxiety disorder: panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, phobias and generalized anxiety disorder.
A third common mental health problem is behavior disorders. It is natural that kids misbehave sometimes, but this kind of disorder is more than just doing mischief and rebellion. Kids with behavior disorder will have a pattern of hostile, aggressive or disruptive behaviors for more than 6 months. Signs that parents should pay attention to are harming or threatening themselves, or other people or pets; damaging or destroying property; lying or stealing; not doing well in school, skipping school; early smoking, drinking or drug use; early sexual activity; frequent tantrums or arguments; and consistent hostility towards authority figures.
Another problem is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD. Signs of ADHD are inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. This behavior can last more than six months and causes problems at school, at home and in social situations. This is also more common in boys than in girls.
These behaviors can have a great effect to the lives of children and the people around them. These behaviors can disrupt daily life at home, at school or in the community. Parents who have children with signs of mental health problem should get them checked by a professional to stop the problem from getting worse.
What are the health problems caused by kids not having proper clothing and no shoes?
Like in south america where many kids dont have clothes or shoes, what can happen, health wise?
Actually I think this Hero concept has more of a devastating effect on homeland Police and Fire. The expectations are greater than they have been accustomed to dealing with in this hero worship society.
My experience as one who has survived a few years of combat is that being a survivor does more to mess up your head and head you down the path to PTSD. Why me? Why did I survive and not my buddy who gave his life for me? I think there is a time in combat when we realize just how closely connected we are as humans. We leave secure areas to run out to pull our fellow wounded troopers in. You expect them to survive after you have done this…you don't think about the risk you just took. I really don't think many guys who read their citations for medals remember much of what really happened other than their fellow man was in need.
Thank you for your question.
Therapy helps but I agree that it is pretty expensive and should really only be used in extreme situations that can't be helped otherwise. A route that therapy sometimes includes is consciously and repetitively training yourself to control and rationalize your thoughts. That's the most important part of dealing with a mental illness, consciously deciding you're going to beat it. It's like having a physical exercise trainer but for your mind. Obviously you can do this at home by coming up with your own system. Underlying issues are also a good thing to deal with by putting conclusions to them because it's one less thing for your overstretched, hyperactive mind to worry about. Sometimes it's painful to revisit and overcome old traumatic memories or thoughts, but it's worth it. When it comes down to it you have the controls and you have to decide which buttons you want to press, what thoughts you want to have in your head etc. Take a look at yourself objectively, draw up a chart with a picture of you (or just a stick figure) and write relevent things you think about yourself in bubbles around it. It's helped me to reduce my depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, and anxiety considerably (of course I'm still scheduled for a little therapy soon so I continue to take it seriously). I reckon you could learn to handle your illness a bit better in the same way. It's probably just an imbalance somewhere in your thoughts and/or memories, maybe even in your lifestyle. You really do have to strictly control those sometimes, even to the point of just avoiding certain situations, not talking to certain people, or not listening to and internalizing certain things that might stress you out. Especially if you're a naturally sensitive individual. Come up with a mental defense against certain thoughts and fears and strengthen it until you believe in its power and you can get through a day without breaking down. I reckon everyone experiences mental illness at least once in their lifetime, it can be overcome.
P.S. Sometimes physical exercise can help because it releases endorphins that make you feel good, you get stronger and more confident as well. Having a healthy body helps in having a healthy mind too.
Gee aren't these Communist and modern Democrat policies?
I agree that our country is messed up and there are people that wish to control and exploit us, but you refer to three particular items:
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."
28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."
Religion has historically been used to control people, the same thing you are ranting about. Some of your rants may be true, however, you have offered no solution, no call to action.
In fact, whoever wrote this for you to spam out is trying to push their own agenda .
Kudos to the effort you put into this. Very sad, that there remain so many people who can do little else but make sarcastic comments about the "right wing" or "conspiracy" and have tried to reduce the use of the word "socialism" , as some whacked out far right lunatic fringe.
Despite solid and factual information, they refuse blindly to accept there is a great deal under the surface of Obama, that is leading down a very dangerous path.
It's also sad that those of us who understand what's transpiring, will lose in the short run, along with the "believers" in the fraud called Obama. Nothing can or will occur until AFTER the 2010 Census.
I think that this like many other things that have come and gone in the past years is unfortunatly not a cure. People are always claiming that a diet or something is going to cure autism. I work with children with autism and I've never heard about this working. I know 5 years ago when they thought vaccines may be causing autism it was all over the news. I think if it did it would be on the news and all over the place – because a cure for autism would be a big deal. This may be a good treatment for some children but I don't think cure is the right word. (This of course is just my personal opinion and it would never hurt to try a new treatment)
I think it's great! I actually enjoyed it.
Well this is exactly what Obama is doing, so I would have to say yes, but only if Obama gets by with it. I suspect Obama's fantasy USA would be communist, but I also know for a fact that the American people will soon revolt, as it should. Looks like you have done some good research, and I do know for a fact what you have posted is correct.
Watch the facts get flipped in the responses. See how it becomes "everyone else's fault" the homosexuals are struggling. I guess you can't reach out to people who don't want help…at least not without getting your hand bit off.
I support healthy family structures, and in my opinion, gay partnerships don't fit into that category.
It sounds as if your fiance has a very troubled past. Events like that occuring in childhood leave their mark on us as adults. There isn't much you can do about his mother seeking the affection and approval from her son, but you may be able to help your fiance by encouraging him to speak to a therapist. If you think he won't take this well….perhaps offer to go to couples counseling to work thru these outbursts before you get married. This isn't something that is going to get better, it will only get worse. And this is something that your future children will endure as well. Help him to break this cycle before it continues on. If he refuses help and this continues, I would suggest you seriously reevaluate your engagement to him. Good luck I wish you well.
lots of money and a good lawyer good luck
I do not believe this is a mental illness! Many kids do not do well in school and do much better homeschooling. It is not unusual for some kids to want to be home, to want to spend time with their family (this article makes it sound unnatural to bond with one's parents!), and to be able to follow their own learning path.
Maybe your parents would be open to homeschooling for you? There are online schools, but these are public schools, and then there are some good curriculums that one can do via correspondence and with self-study, if parents are not available to be there all the time.
Would you self-study? Would you be faithful in doing what was required of you? Maybe you should bring this up with your parents.
Do not believe all that you read.
I hated school when I was a child and I used to say I was sick to get out of going. I do not have a mental illness and never have. I never had a fear of school, I just hated school.
Mail me directly if you want more information.
Blessings~
idk thats a long list to look but but what i think basically is…

Democrats- high taxes, more power to the government
but alot of those things like changing the religion of people and the newspaper sounds communist…..
idk i mite be rong :/
There is a lot of overlap in diagnoses. The good news is that you can't have all of these things. The not so good news is that it sounds like you've got something going on. The silver lining is that what you've got is features of different disorders indicating an overall higher functioning than someone who is severe in anything. OCD is anxiety based, and there may be an anxiety component to you. The ADHD hard to say but I don't think so, I think its more depression based. The dependent personality disorder I think also is coming up due to depression. My impression would be schizoaffective disorder with anxiety. The hypergraphia (excessive writing) does look manic. That covers the mixed episodes of depression, mania, bipolar quiz, schizophrenia quiz. It is dealable. If you feel you are having a breakdown then you need to call your doc or go to the ER to go inpatient. You may need more support than what outpatient can do for you.

No, of course not.
